Well, after the accident, the story forwards Three Years in Frozen!
Well, Frozen was released three years after Rapunzel was released: Rapunzel (2010) Frozen (2013)! So maybe the parents of Elsa/Anna were headed to Rapunzel and Flynn's wedding! And look at the maps of where Elsa and Anna's parents were headed.
If you look, Anna's parents were headed to Corona for Rapunzel's wedding, but drowned near the coast of Denmark, where Ariel was! It all makes sense now, doesn't it!
